This tool is used to draw the two ends of a chain together when joining it. Particularly with a heavier chain pulling the two ends of the chain together and and fitting the link in can be quite challenging. It doesn't matter whether it's a rivet link or a spring link, this relatively cheap tool makes life a great deal easier.
